Last year I joined this event for the first time. It was fun. I loved visiting all those participators and see their amazing arts and crafts. And I won something too.
I haven't decided if I will join again this year. I don't think I can find time to make something nice. I know it's all about priorities, making choiches and decide what's most important for me. I just don't think that's OWOH. On the other hand, it's the last time OWOH is here. I will think about it a little more,

Postcard

I finished a postcard today. The background is a leftover of an old project. I'm not sure but I think I made christmascards of it last year or 2 years ago. I'm cleaning my craftroom by using my stock. It must be possible to craft without spending money for at least a half year.

The background is made of fabric that has tissue glued on it and added some paint, sparkles and stamps.
It's very messy to make, but so much fun!



The birdie is made out of scraps of paper I got in my favourite magazine: Flow.
And becouse of the red chest it's a robin and fits in the theme of Sunday Postcard Art.

Creative every day 2011

A little while ago I was bloghopping and I came across this inspiring blog. I loved the idea behind being creative every day. It just fits in my ideas about being creative.
It was already halfway november, so I decided to follow the blog and just wait. And this week a post appeared where I was hoping for. The challenge will continue in 2011.
I joined it, are you next?

I hear a lot of people say "I'm not creative" and I disagree with that. I truely believe every person has a creative side. Maybe you are not a crafter, maybe you don't make art, but I still think you have a creative side.
Can you cook a fantastic dinner? Can you play with words? Can you make furniture? Can you sing or dance or make music? Can you tell a story to your kids and do different voices? Can you participate into the fantasy of a child? Can you make your home cosy? Can you repair a bike or your coffeemachine? Can you collect something and love it? Can you give your friends the perfect gift? Can you see the beauty of nature? Can you take a photo?
I think there is at least 1 thing you can say yes to. And you find your creativity in this subject. Creativity is the thing in your life that makes you lively.

So join this challenge and let us make 2011 the most creative year by thinking creative about everyday life!

Friday Funday

It's friday, last day of work and the begin of weekend.
For me it will be a busy, but fun weekend. Tomorrow I go to a precious stone market with my goldsmitting class. It should be fun to learn more about precious stones and maybe to buy something to use in my new project. I've designed a bracelet with a box on it and I need something to put in the box. This thing must be a symbol for a chapter of my life that I've closed.
Sunday we celebrate the birthday of my mother in law. Congrats mom, hope we can do this for many more years!

I didn't keep track with my RSS reader. So last week was all about getting updated.
I came across this post of Leah It shows how to make an artpiece on an intuitive way. Looks like fun and it now has a place on my to do list. It's a long list, so it may take some time before I get it done.

List it tuesday

Books of my childhood.
My favorite is Pluk van de Petteflet by Annie MG Schmidt. It's not translated to english, but it is in german (Pluk mit dem Kranwagen).

It's about a boy named Pluk who drives a truck and lives at the top of an appartment. In this appartment already lives a cockroach and they become friends. Plak has a lot of friends in the building, but there are also a few people that are not so friendly. They have all sorts of adventures and the characters are very funny, cause they are all a little strange.

The writer, Annie MG Schmidt,is very famous in Holland. Her books are known by almost all children and a lot of them are used for movie and television. She knew how to create funny characters, they are all over the top and brilliant.
Those stories combined with the drawings of Fiep Westendorp bring back memories of my childhood. I still get very happy when I see them.

I just finished the first chapter and I love it!
The book is full of inspring pictures, interesting text and the do it yourself part was great fun.

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday

Today I share a little secret with you.
I'm working on my present for Sinterklaas.
Sinterklaas is a saint who lives in Spain, celebrates his birthday on december 5th and his helpers we call Zwarte Piet (black Pete). He is also very, very old, I think 500 years and he has a book and in this book is written if you've been good this year. He travels by steamboat and horse. And this horse can climb roofs. The helpers come into your house by using the chimney and they leave a present if you sang a song before going to bed and a carrot for the horse is appreciated :)

Every year half november Sinterklaas arrives in Holland with his steamboat full with presents. This arrival can be seen on national tv. There's always something wrong. There are daily updates on tv and at the end it all is fine.
Children get presents in their shoe. And december 5th is La Grande Finale. A bag full of presents for everybody who has been a good boy or girl.

Me and my family are celebrating this event. In the afternoon we share some presents, mostly for the little children who still believe this is a real existing man. We have a meal together and then the little ones go to bed and for me the real party will begin.
We've drawn names and for this person you buy a small gift. Best part is how the gifts are wrapped. This isn't just a pretty paper, this is crafting! Last year I got a house, because I just bought my first house. My brother got this enormous fish, because he always catches the biggest fishes (uhuh sure, we believe you)
There are also little poems about the receiver. The best are about crazy things that happened last year.
Can you see I'm looking forward to this??

My list this week is about cities I would like to visit. The European cities should be a piece of cake to do. I don't need to travel far for those. Problem is, there is so much to do and see in the world and there is only limited time and money.



Cities I have seen are Barcelona, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Vienna and Budapest. It's hard to choose a favorite. They all have their good things and I would visit them all again. My fave would be Barcelona, cause of the food and because it's Spain. For no reasen I love Spain.

My Collection

I started this blog in october 2009 and named it verzameling. This is a dutch word for collection. In my mind I had the idea to share my collections with you and how I use those in my crafty life. So far you only know I collect art and craftwork from others, but what about the rest.
I think it's about time to start with this, don't you?





These are a few of my buttons. They used to be everywhere. Every box you opened you would find a few. Because of this picture I had to find them all and now they are together in a small storagebox.
Buttons I use for anything. They can be beads or a nice accent on a postcard or scrap layout. Ofcourse they are fine to be used as just buttons, they will give a nice accent to your work.

Friday Fill In

What's on your workdesk wednesday?

It's not really on my workdesk, it's on my couch. This is my "I'm watching tv and it's not that interesting" project.



I'm crocheting (is that a word, it sounds silly?) a blanket. Just something small for cold winter evenings.
It's only in doublecrochet, so it's very easy and very fast. This is what I did in just 1 week and I have to work and do housekeeping and stuff as well.

I really like the colours, it looks nice and warm. But I didn't buy enough wool. Now I can only hope it's still available at the store.

De herfst is begonnen. De tuin word kaler, het boompje verliest blad.
Het regent en is guur buiten. Tijdens het avondeten gaat de lamp aan en ook de kachel staat weer te snorren.

Autumn has begon. Fallen leaves from the trees. It rains and it's cold. Have to switch on the light at dinner and the heat is on as well.




Tijd om de gezelligheid in huis te brengen. Kaarsjes, wierook, een bloemetje.
En natuurlijk de tijd binnenshuis doorbrengen. Een mooie film, een glas wijn, beetje knutselen.

Time to make the house cosy again. Candles, nice smells, some flowers. Being in the house. Nice movies, a glass of wine, some crafting.



Vorige week heb ik dit herfststuk gemaakt bij een collega. Nu met de lichtjes aan staat het heel gezellig op de tafel. En de herfstdingen zijn straks makkelijk te vervangen door kerstversieringen. Heel de winter plezier van.
Om te maken is het heel makkelijk. Je neemt een bos takken die je aan elkaar bind. In het midden zet je een plantje. Aan de takken maak je wat lampjes vast en je versiert het geheel naar eigen smaak.

I made this autumn piece last week. With the lights on it's very cosy on the table. The autumn decoration can easily be replaced for christmas decoration, it will last all winter.
It's very simple to make. You need a bunch of twigs. Ty them together. In the middle you place a small plant. Add some lights to the twigs and decorate it as you like it.

Skinny swap

Bij mixed media diva's is de halfjaarlijkse atc-swap gaande. Alleen dit keer maken we geen atc, maar een skinny. Ook leuk, al vind ik het eigenlijk een heel vervelend formaat.
At mixed media diva's it's time for our second annual atc swap. But this time we're not making atc, but a skinny. It's nice, but I don't like the size.



Ik kreeg deze van Linda. Het thema is halloween, maar dat lijkt me duidelijk.

De zomer is weer voorbij

en het word tijd om weer aan het gewone, dagelijkse leven te beginnen. Ondanks het niet zo goede zomerweer heb ik toch echt van mijn tuintje kunnen genieten. Ben nog steeds zo blij dat ik verhuisd ben, heerlijke woning is dit. En ik durf inmiddels ook met zekerheid te zeggen dat er geen lekkage is.
The summer has ended and now it's time to start everyday life again. Despite the bad weather I really enjoyed my garden. I'm still very happy that I moved, I love this home. And I dare to say it doesn't leak anywhere.

Net als voorgaande jaren ben ik weer een weekje naar Rethymnon, Kreta geweest. Dat blijft een heel fijn stadje. Het was erg leuk om alle bekenden weer te zien en nieuwe mensen te ontmoeten. Ik verheug me al op volgend jaar.
Maar hopelijk tussendoor eerst nog naar Spanje.
Like previous years I spent a week at Rethymno, Crete. I feel so much at home in this small city. And it was great to see some people again and to meet new folks. I'm looking forward to next year, but I hope to go to Spain first.



Veel geknutseld heb ik niet deze zomer. Ik heb me een beetje verdiept in het vilten. Erg leuk om te doen, maar de beweging is nog steeds pijnlijk voor mijn schouder.
En ik heb zeep gemaakt. Daarvan kan ik zeggen dat deze pogingen mislukt zijn. Het is wel zeep hoor, maar er zit geen geur of kleur aan. Ziet er heel onaantrekkelijk uit. Ach met de herfst en de winter voor de deur zal ik mezelf daar meer tijd voor gunnen.
Het haken gaat nog steeds door. Sinds mijn nichtje me dat geleerd heeft ben ik daar ook niet mee gestopt. Heerlijk om te doen tijdens het televisie kijken.
Het patroontje voor deze leuke poppetjes kocht ik bij Anja.
I didn't do much crafting this summer. I explored the basics of felting. Which is fun, but it hurts my shoulder.
I also made some soap and failed on that. Yes it is soap, but it looks ugly and doesn't smell at all.
O well, with autum and winter coming I will be more at home and find time to craft again.
I did continue crochet. Didn't stop doing it since my niece taught me. I like it while i watch television.

India

Met de MixedMediaDiva's ging ik deze maand naar India. Eerlijk gezegd kwam er niets bij me boven toen het thema voor de maanduitdaging bekend gemaakt werd. Ik heb niet zoveel met India of met Azie. Ze eten daar veel rijst en daar houd ik niet van.
Een korte zoektocht op het internet maakte mij toch enthousiast. Een goede curry is niet te versmaden, wat een prachtige kleuren en zoveel! En de gewaden, zo feestelijk.

I went to India this month with MixedMediaDiva's. To be honest, I didn't feel like it. I have no warm feelings for India or Asia. That's where they eat a lot of rice, which I don't like. A quick search made me change my mind. After all, I do like a curry. Such beautifull colours and so many! And the robes, just stunning.

Ik heb een canvas gebruikt. Van bijna alle stappen heb ik foto's gemaakt, dus hieronder volgt een lange rits met foto's. Ik hoop voor jullie dat het kijken ernaar net zoveel plezier geeft als het maken ervan.
Ik heb de demo's van de Divadag in de praktijk gebracht, een stukje gevilt en een gessotransfer op stof.

I practised some demonstrations of the Divaday, feltet a little and made a transfer with gesso on fabric.

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday

Ik ben bezig met een verkenningstocht door de wereld van stofjes, wol en garen.
I'm exploring the world of fabric, wool and yarn.



Afgelopen week ontving ik een starterpakketje voor naaldvilten.
Het katje op de voorkant van het boekje is zo schattig. Ik heb dan ook wel iets met katten. Er staan veel leuke beestjes in het boekje en hoe je die dan kan maken is ook duidelijk uitgelegd.

The kitty on the front of the book is just adorable. Well, I do have a thing for cats. There are lots of cute animals in this book and it's very clear how to make them.



Alleen al voor de merino wol zou je beginnen met vilten. Het is zo zacht en oogt zo mooi op een knotje.
Just for the merino wool you should start felting. It's so soft and pretty.



Mijn eerste werkstukje. Dat valt nog niet mee om de juiste verhoudingen van wol te gebruiken.

Maaltijden planning

En maar weer proberen om een nieuwe planning te maken die ik ook nog eens kan volgen.

Maandag:Pealla van Knorr. Maar dan met zeebanket ipv kip.

Dinsdag: Sperziebonensalade met ei.
Kook de boontjes beetgaar en laat ze afkoelen. Voeg een beetje yoghurt, citroensap, bosui en bonenkruid toe. Kook een paar eieren en meng dit door de salade.

Woensdag: hartige pannekoeken. De zoete met fruit zijn ook erg lekker!

Donderdag: Ik heb eigenlijk wel zin in andijviestamp met spekjes.... Word het erg warm donderdag?

Vrijdag: gebakken aardappels met biefstuk en appelmoes.

Zaterdag: tijd voor vis. Telt blikjesvis ook mee als gezond?

Zondag: Dit is zo simpel dat je er eigenlijk geen recept bij nodig hebt, maar het klinkt wel erg lekker.

Maaltijden planning

Maandag: Eerst werken en daarna thuis de weekendrommel opruimen. Daarom, als altijd, een makkelijke maaltijd op maandag. Gekookte aardappels, potje rode kool met appeltjes en een hamburger.

Dinsdag: De vleesloze dag. Ik gok dat het dinsdag nog steeds warm is. Met deze temperaturen heb ik toch minder zin in eten. Daarom trek ik een blik soep open met wat brood.

Woensdag: Gebakken kabeljauwfilet met witlof en mosterd

Donderdag: Ik moet veel meer verse groenten eten. Pfff ik heb er nu al geen zin in. Ik vind koken heel leuk, maar er zijn momenten dat ik de kant en klaar wel heel makkelijk vind. Oke, verse groenten dus. Ik haal wel een zakje schoongemaakte groenten. De brocolli met wortels vind ik erg lekker en dan een stukje vlees erbij en aardappeltjes of rijst.

Vrijdag: aardappels uit de oven met een karbonade. De karbonade word ingesmeerd met een mengsel van gebakken ui, knoflook en rode peper en gaat daarna zo'n 20 minuten de oven in op 180 tot 200 graden C.

Zaterdag: Dit klinkt wel lekker.
In de benodigde ingredienten hebben ze het over aubergine, als ik naar de foto kijk dan denk ik courgettes??? Of zou ik ze nu zelf door elkaar halen?

Zondag: Zo moeilijk om een week vooruit te denken. Ik weet niet eens wat we gaan doen die zondag en wat voor weer het word. Als het warm is en/of we gaan wat doen dan word het iets makkelijks, anders is uitgebreid koken ook wel weer leuk.

kant / lace

Weer een stoffen kaart gemaakt voor de FunFriendly groep. Het thema voor deze swap was kant.
I made another fabric postcard for FunFriendly group. The theme was lace.



Ik heb de kantlaag van een oud kussensloop verwijderd. Dit was enigzins vergeeld, maar niet mooi egaal helaas. Daarom heb ik het kant eerst een badje gegeven met een beetje bleekmiddel. Daarna nog even door een sopje om van die nare lucht af te zijn.
Een deel van het kant heb ik geverfd met blauwe acrylverf en accenten aangebracht met zilver metalic acrylverf.
I used the lace of an old pillowsleeve. It turned yellow a little, but not very smooth. So I gave it a bath with some bleach. After that I washed it with soap to get rid of the nasty smell.
Some parts of the lace I've painted with blue acrylic paint and I added a little silver metalic acrylic paint as accents.



Op een stukje blauw geverfd katoen heb ik een stempelafdrukje gezet.
Bij de Action vond ik blauw met zilver lint, dat best voor een soort kant kan doorgaan. Dit heb ik gebruikt om de randen af te werken.
Ik ben lui te werk gegaan en heb alle stof gelijmd. Tussen de voor en achterkant zit een stukje cardboard voor de stevigheid.
I stamped an image on some blue painted cotton.
I found blue with silver ribbon at Action (this is a low budget store). I used it to finish the sides.
I was lazy and glued it all together. Between the 2 layers of fabric is some cardstock to make it a little stiff.

maaltijden planning

Zaterdag: Veel te doen vandaag en daardoor weinig tijd om te koken. Ik hou het simpel vandaag. Pitabroodjes met roerbakvlees en sla.

Zondag: Kruidige rundergehaktspiesjes met tzatziki, restant van de sla en aardappeltjes uit de oven met rozemarijn.

Maandag: Tijd voor een degelijke maaltijd, heel de dag gewerkt, vandaag volg ik geen recept. Broccoli, aardappeltjes en een hamburger.

Dinsdag: Ik doe boodschappen op zaterdag en woensdag. Doordat de vriezer kapot is vandaag een verplichte vegetarische dag. De vriezer is al een half jaar kapot, ik mis hem niet echt eigenlijk, al is het soms wel handig. Penne met olijven en kappertjes

Woensdag:Eet 2 keer per week vis is het advies. Ik ben al blij als ik het 1 keer in de week doe. Vraag me niet waarom, maar vis vind ik "gedoe", terwijl het vaak heel snel klaar is. Gebakken schol met basilicumsaus

Donderdag: Kool met appeltjes en een slavinkje.

Vrijdag: Ontspannen en lekker het weekend in. Gebakken aardappeltjes met biefstuk. Geen vitamine vandaag.

Ik hou van Holland

Een swap op het CreaMiep forum. We doen daar regelmatig een swap met elkaar. Als extraatje versturen we de kaarten anoniem, we hebben de grootste lol door te raden van wie de kaart is.
Deze heb ik gekregen. De kaart die ik gemaakt heb kan ik natuurlijk nog niet laten zien, de Miepjes zouden best eens op mijn blog kunnen kijken.

Voorjaarsuitdaging

Elly, de opperdiva van de MixedMediaDiva groep verzorgd regelmatig goed gevulde enveloppen met een opdracht.
Je krijgt dus spulletjes om mee te knutselen en daar moet je dan een thema mee volgen.
Elly, owner of MixedMediaDiva, sent out some enveloppes with goodies to create something in a theme.




De opdracht was: maak een collage met een koe erop, een koelage.
Terwijl ik aan het spelen was ontstond deze schatkaart.
The theme was: make a collage with a cow on it, a cowlage.
While I was playing this tresure map came in.



De zoektocht bracht mij bij dit schatkistje. Gevuld met niets. Maar nu heb ik wel een mooi kistje om alle charms in op te bergen.
The search went to this box. It was filled with nothing. Now I have a nice place to keep my charms.

Het vogeltje is een plaatje gevonden op internet. Het is een transfer met gelmedium op stof.
Dat werkt simpel: Knip het plaatje uit en besmeer de voorzijde van het plaatje met een laagje gelmedium, niet te dun, niet te dik. leg het plaatje op z'n kop op een stukje stof (de gelmedium zit dus tussen het papier en het stof in) en wrijf dit goed aan. Daarna laten drogen en met behulp van wat water het papier voorzichtig verwijderen.
The picture of the bird I found on the internet. I made a transfer using gelmedium.
It's simple: Cut out a picture. Add some gelmedium on the front of the image. Don't use too many or too little gelmedium. Place picture upsidedown on your fabric (gelmedium is between paper and fabric) Rub on it firmly and let dry. Then remove paper carefully by using a little water.

Aan de achterkant van het stof heb ik circels getekend die in elkaar overlopen. Deze heb ik met een stiksteekje geborduurd.
I draw some circles on the back of the fabrick. This is embroidered using a backstitch.

vogels - birds

Dit was een swap bij Fun Friendly. Een thema waar ik warm voor loop. Ik ben dol op vogels. Het heeft vandaag geregend en de schuurdaken zijn nat. Er liggen behoorlijke plassen op. Een groepje vogeltjes, ik denk mussen, maar dat is van deze afstand moeilijk te zien, is heerlijk aan het badderen. Daar kan ik uren naar kijken.
This was the theme of a swap at Fun Friendly. It's a theme I just love. I love birds. It rained today and the roofs are wet with puddles on it. Some little birds are taking a bath right now, I can't see wat kind of birds they are, it's too far away, but this is a scenery I can watch for hours.



Deze kaart is weer gemaakt met stofjes. ik heb de smaak te pakken en hoop er nog vele te maken.
De achtergrond is van linnen en hier heb ik een stempeltje op gezet.
De voorgrond is een stukje afgedankte vitrage. Dit heb ik geverfd met ecoline. Een gat in geknipt op de plaats van het stempeltje en dat afgewerkt met een randje borduurzijde. Nog wat papiertjes, stukjes stof en een bloemetje erop en alweer een kaartje klaar.

The background is made of linen with a stamp on top.
The front is a piece of old curtain. I dyed it with ecoline. Cut a hole in it for the stamp. I added some paper, fabric and a flower and another card was finished.
